It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day.

So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading Saturday, July 4, 2015.

George Takei, of Mr. Sulu fame, doubles down on his racist comments about Justice Clarence Thomas saying that he wasn’t being racist when calling Thomas “a clown in black face.” He was just saying that Thomas had “abdicated and abandoned his African-American heritage.”

Hispanic leaders are asking the GOP Presidential candidate to voice their displeasure and disagreement with Donald Trump’s comments about illegal immigrants.

“The time has come for the candidates to distance themselves from Trump and call his comments what they are: ludicrous, baseless and insulting,” said Alfonso Aguilar, a Republican who leads the American Principles Project’s Latino Partnership. “Sadly, it hurts the party with Hispanic voters. It’s a level of idiocy I haven’t seen in a long time.”

At a campaign event in Iowa Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told a member of the crowd that he was “not your candidate. I don’t want you to vote for me. I couldn’t disagree with you more.”

Rick Perry attacks the GOP for lacking “moral legitimacy” with African-Americans, but he also believes the time has come for “black families to hold” Democrats accountable for destroying their economy.
