What We’re Reading July 11, 2016

We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently!

It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day.

You’re welcome.

So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading, Monday, July 11, 2016.

Hillary is calling on white people to change their ways.

The Bahamas just issued a travel advisory for people headed to the U.S. in light of the Dallas shooting and recent officer-involved shootings:  “We wish to advise all Bahamians traveling to the US but  especially to the affected cities to exercise appropriate caution generally. In particular young males are asked to exercise extreme caution in affected cities in their interactions with the police.”

Black Lives Matter continues to riot across the country. Protesters were throwing rocks at Phoenix police and chanting, “We should shoot you!

The first confirmed Zika-related death in the U.S. occurred in Utah late last month.

GOP considering “softening” language in platform regarding LGBT:  “With the Republican National Convention less than two weeks away, moderate Republicans are drafting an amendment that would soften the GOP’s official position on gays and lesbians.”

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson’s sexual harassment case against the network’s CEO Roger Ailes just took a blow with this new evidence.

Surprise (not):  The Democratic Party’ platform now advocates for a $15 minimum wage, thanks to Bernie Sanders’s insistence.

In Obama’s denouncing of the Dallas shooting suspects’ actions, he said, “They don’t speak for us. That’s not who we are.” In other words, it’s not fair to cast judgment on an entire group based on the actions of a few. Gun owners? Sure. But not terrorists.

Once you tell a lie over and over again, you start believing it yourself: “Hillary Clinton today again stood by her belief that she did not send or receive classified information while she was secretary of state, despite an FBI investigation that concluded otherwise.”
