Uh-oh. Our Secretary of Defense Won’t say if We’re Beating ISIS!

Uh-oh. This could be very bad news.

Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter recently appeared on NBC’s Today Show with Savannah Guthrie to discuss the ongoing war on terror and more specifically our fight against ISIS. Which is when Mr. Carter says something (or fails to say something) that should scare everybody…

Savannah Guthrie: You are known for your candor. Are we winning right now

Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter: I think it’s too early to say we are winning, but I think we have certainly inflicted a lot of damage… It will take time to inflict defeat upon ISIL. We’re still building the coalition, we’re still building the forces and that’s why I’m hesitant to say we are winning. I’m confident we will win.

Guthrie: When you say time do you mean years, do you mean decades?

Carter: It’s hard to know that either. Obviously, It’s going to depend on how quick we are to build the forces to sustain the defeat.

Yep. The Secretary of Defense refuses to say that we’re winning against ISIS. Have you ever heard a politician refuse to take credit for something when things are going well? No? Me neither. So does this mean that we should be worried that maybe things are going worse than we thought?!
