Trump Will Invite Putin to a Meeting in Washington, DC

If the President does invite Putin to come here for discussions, will it be for national security and diplomacy reasons, or just because it’s fun to cause such bloodthirsty hysteria. Probably both.

While he plans to invite Putin for more talks he says Russia is not threatening the U.S., causing more glorious hysteria.

If the President does invite Putin to come here for more discussions, will it be for national security and diplomacy reasons, or just because it’s fun to cause such bloodthirsty hysteria? Probably both.

The President promised to do all he can to get a better relationship with Russia and he obviously didn’t accomplish it all in the first meeting!

Politico reports, “Trump plans to invite Putin to Washington this fall.

President Donald Trump asked his national security adviser to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to Washington this fall, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Thursday afternoon.

The statement comes after Trump teased a second meeting with Putin on Twitter earlier in the day. […]

“In Helsinki, @POTUS agreed to ongoing working level dialogue between the two security council staffs. President Trump asked @AmbJohnBolton to invite President Putin to Washington in the fall and those discussions are already underway,” Sanders said in a tweet.

Trump wrote online Thursday that he is looking forward to a second sitdown with Putin […].

“The Summit with Russia was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media. I look forward to our second meeting so that we can start implementing some of the many things discussed, including stopping terrorism, security for Israel, nuclear proliferation, cyber attacks, trade, Ukraine, Middle East peace, North Korea and more,” the president wrote on Twitter. “There are many answers, some easy and some hard, to these problems…but they can ALL be solved!”

But the media is melting down because Trump doesn’t feel that Russia is a threat. The Hill reports, “Trump says Russia doesn’t pose threat, contradicting intelligence director.

President Trump on Wednesday said Russia does not pose a threat to the United States, contradicting his director of national intelligence on a critical security issue and deepening a political controversy that began at his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump, besieged with criticism over his perceived deference to Putin at the summit, for a second day sought to do damage control on the crisis, stating that no one had been tougher than he on Russia.

“There has never been a president as tough on Russia as I have been,” Trump told reporters before a Cabinet meeting at the White House.

The president said his administration is “doing very well” in countering Russia, citing U.S. sanctions on Moscow and the expulsion of Russian nationals accused of being spies.

“I think President Putin knows that better than anybody, certainly a lot better than the media. He understands it, and he’s not happy about it,” Trump said.

But seconds later, Trump said “no” when asked if Russia still poses a threat to the U.S.

That comment undercut his own director of national intelligence, Dan Coats, who said after Trump’s Helsinki press conference that Russia’s hostile activities against the U.S. and its allies are “ongoing.”

I realize Trump chose Coats as DNI. But that doesn’t mean he agrees with his philosophy. Dan Coats made it clear to the Council on Foreign Relations that he thought an enemy was necessary to save NATO. So maybe Trump is worried that this is influencing his appraisal.

I do know that if George Bush had disbelieved his intelligence agencies, hundreds of thousand of lives would have been preserved in Iraq, ISIS would never have held territory there, and Iran’s regional influence wouldn’t be as great. So why is it a litmus test for Donald Trump?
