The Associated Press reported that over half of all non-government-affiliated individuals who were granted access to Hillary Clinton gave substantial donations to the Clinton Foundation.
Out of 154 private individuals – those not affiliated with any U.S. or foreign government – who met with Hillary Clinton in some way, 85 of them were Clinton Foundation donors. Altogether, those 85 individuals dumped around $156 million into the Clintons’ family foundation coffers. Nearly half of them gave $100,000 each, and 20 of them each gave over $1 million.
But that’s not all. Remember, these are just those who weren’t employed by any government. They were mostly businesspeople. People like an “internationally known economist” and bank executive from Bangladesh, a Wall Street executive, executives with the cosmetics giant Estee Lauder, and many others. The AP reported:
The 154 did not include U.S. federal employees or foreign government representatives. Clinton met with representatives of at least 16 foreign governments that donated as much as $170 million to the Clinton charity, but they were not included in AP’s calculations because such meetings would presumably have been part of her diplomatic duties.
The Clinton campaign responded to the AP’s analysis, saying that it was flawed, because they didn’t include all these other meetings that then-Secretary Clinton had with U.S. and foreign government officials. “It is outrageous to misrepresent Secretary Clinton’s basis for meeting with these individuals,” Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon said. He added that the analysis is “a distorted portrayal of how often she crossed paths with individuals connected to charitable donations to the Clinton Foundation.”
At a rally Tuesday evening in Austin, Texas, Donald Trump used this new revelation as more reason that his opponent is “totally unfit to hold public office.” He stated, “It is impossible to figure out where the Clinton Foundation ends and the State Department begins. It is now abundantly clear that the Clintons set up a business to profit from public office.”
That’s exactly what this scheme is all about. The Clintons have never had anything to do with the service part of public service. Quite the contrary, in fact. The Clinton Foundation had nothing to do with helping people. That was merely its cover. It was just a way for the Clintons to get filthy rich. People would give them millions of dollars, and Hillary Clinton would use her public office position to return whatever favor the donors wanted. That is the epitome of politics.
