What Stephen Colbert said was run-of-the-mill late-night ‘humor.’ It was a little beyond what normally passes as a joke, but nothing surprising. These jokes are allowed on major media networks as long as they’re directed toward a Republican. And I don’t even like the Republicans.
If they were directed toward a Democrat, there would certainly be swift action by executives to remove said host.
Here’s what Stephen Colbert said following Trump’s interview with Colbert’s co-worker John Dickerson of Face the Nation:
“Mr. President, I love your presidency, I call it ‘Disgrace The Nation.’ You’re not the POTUS, you’re the ‘gloat-us.’ You’re the glutton with the button. You’re a regular ‘Gorge Washington.’ You’re the ‘presi-dunce’ but you’re turning into a real ‘prick-tator… The only thing smaller than your hands is your tax returns, and you can take that any way you want.”
But it was worse than that. He said, “The only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s c**k holster.”
At that point, members of the LGBT community chimed in, saying they were offended and called for him to be fired. #FireColbert.
Can you imagine a late night host saying that about Obama? Of course not.
It’s about ten minutes in if you want to see it:
They’re saying it was a ‘homophobic’ insult.
It was incredibly vulgar, but worse than that, it wasn’t even funny. Any joke that has to do with Trump and Russia always falls flat.
But ‘homophobic?’ Come on.
