Reverend Franklin Graham Attacked for Defending Christian Morality

This past week the Reverend Franklin Graham took to Facebook in an effort to communicate a new strategy in the fight against moral decay to believers all over America. He wrote a short exhortation on how we should use our money and the choices we make when purchasing goods at certain stores. Her argues that one way Christians and conservatives can stand up against the tide that is sweeping away moral certainty and replacing it with secular immorality and worse, is by refusing to spend our money with businesses who support immorality.

Here’s what he said:

Have you ever asked yourself–how can we fight the tide of moral decay that is being crammed down our throats by big business, the media, and the gay & lesbian community?

Every day it is something else!

Tiffany’s started advertising wedding rings for gay couples. Wells Fargo bank is using a same-sex couple in their advertising. And there are more. But it has dawned on me that we don’t have to do business with them. At the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, we are moving our accounts from Wells Fargo to another bank. And guess what—we don’t have to shop at Tiffany & Co., there are plenty of other jewelry stores. This is one way we as Christians can speak out—we have the power of choice. Let’s just stop doing business with those who promote sin and stand against Almighty God’s laws and His standards.

Maybe if enough of us do this, it will get their attention.

Franklin GrahamIf you’re a conservative or a Christian there is nothing controversial about what he is saying here. The idea is simply this: if you can help it, don’t spend your money at businesses that don’t support your moral beliefs. Liberals do this all of the time with companies like Chick Fil A and Hobby Lobby (among many others), so we could probably afford to do the same when we shop.

Apparently, liberals on Facebook did not think this post was reasonable at all and began posting the most vile, hateful and disgusting attacks on Rev. Graham’s Facebook page.

“How many bigots are there in the world?” wrote one Facebook user named Sharon Tackett. ”So sad that these people have nothing else to do but hate and criticize.”

Another individual named Venetia Phillips wrote, “We’re Here. We’re Queer. Get Used To It. (Nobody is trying to alter the already decayed morals of the people you preach to. Strengthen ‘your’ community in a way other than having them bond over hatred. That’s what Hitler did. Surely, you are more enlightened).”

Other messages were a bit harsher, with Facebook user Russell Carver writing that “conservatives are a cancer” before taking aim at Graham, calling him a “false prophet.”

(By the way, the Reverend Graham has for years run several ministries, chief among them Samaritan’s Purse and over the course of his life he has raised millions of dollars and provided life saving relief and aid to our world’s poorest. His work has positively impacted millions of lives and quite literally saved thousands… but in the mind of a liberal he’s a no good, evil man.)

Yes, America, this is what passes as “civil discourse” among our liberal betters. Are you learning to expect this kind of language and behavior from them? If not, you need to start getting used to it. Anyone who disagrees with the liberal orthodoxy of the day will be attacked. And that’s just the way things are.
