Republican Scolds IRS Official, says “I Don’t Believe You!”

Paul Ryan (R-WI) just laid down the BOOM. If you didn’t hear it, then you must not have been listening. From all the way in Washington, D.C. the thunder could be heard around the country, as Rep. Paul Ryan straight up called the IRS LIARS.

It was refreshing to hear a little righteous indignation from Republicans on the IRS issue. There needs to be more of that. And it needs to be sincere, not some fake political mumbo jumbo, but real anger at the abuse of conservative Americans.

Get your popcorn. Watch and enjoy.

I am sitting here listening to this testimony. I just – I don’t believe it. That’s your problem. Nobody believes you.

The IRS comes to Congress a few years ago and misleads us – and says “no targeting is occurring.” Then it said “it was a few rogue agents in Cinicinatti,” then it said “it was also on progressives.”

All of those things have been proven untrue.

You bury in a 27-page letter to the Senate asking for them to conclude the investigation that you’ve lost Lois Lerner’s emails…Monday, our investigators ask your agency if any other hard drives crashed.

You told us on Monday because we asked you! We asked you if any other hard drives crashed. This is unbelievable. You told us in May you were going to give us all of Lois Lerner’s emails and you learned in February that this crashed.

I’m not asking you a question, I’m making a statement. You can turn lives upside down. You ask taxpayers to hand over seven years of their own taxpayer information in case they’re ever audited, and you can’t keep six months of emails?

This is not being forthcoming. This is being misleading again. This is a pattern of abuse, a pattern of behavior that is not giving us any confidence that this agency is being impartial. I don’t believe you. This is incredible.

Republicans got even more aggressive as the day continued.

Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI) could not believe what he was hearing (and reading) either. Apparently the White House knew about the missing Lois Lerner emails 6 weeks before Congress did. It made no sense to Mr. Camp, who made the point that it was Congress investigating the situation, but somehow the White House finds everything out first?

None of this makes any sense, and yet the IRS and the Obama administration continue in their smug defiance. It’s time that Congress proves that these villains are not above the law and that they are not untouchable.
