A Reminder – America is One of the Least Racist Countries in the World!

A couple of days ago we told you about the President’s recent interview on BET where he basically said that America is still racist and that those “deeply rooted” feelings would be hard to get rid of.

“When you’re dealing with something as deeply rooted as racism or bias in any society, you have to have vigilance, but you have to recognize that it’s going to take some time, and you just have to be steady.”

According to an advance excerpt President Obama also said, “This isn’t going to be solved overnight. This is something that is deeply rooted in our society, it’s deeply rooted in our history…”

In that article on the President’s interview, I mentioned my belief that the United States was among the least racist cultures in the world.

Americans are less racist and more culturally-sensitive than at any other time in the history of our nation. In America we appreciate and value diversity while asking for acculturation. This process has failed miserably in other nations (throughout Europe), but here in America we’ve done better with this than anywhere else in the world. In America, minorities have more opportunity than anywhere else in the world. How do we know? Because no nation receives (and approves) more immigration requests than the United States. Millions of people are trying to get in, every day, from ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Not only do I stand by that statement, but today I have more evidence, thanks in part to Jamie Weinstein at the Daily Caller. Weinstein has personally pored over the data and found that America is indeed among the least racist nations in the world!

… America is among the least racist countries in the world.

From 2010 to 2014, the World Values Survey asked residents in over 50 countries who they would not want as neighbors. Just over five percent of respondents in the United States said “people of a difference race.” That’s far more tolerant a response than citizens of most European, African and Asian countries gave. As a comparison, 15 percent of Germans, 41 percent of Indians and 22 percent of Japanese said they wouldn’t want to live next to “people of a different race.” The Washington Post depicted the results in a useful chart.

See, the horribly honest truth of it all is that the vast majority of the world is horribly racist. Or at least culturally so. Perhaps it’s not necessarily an aversion do darker or lighter skin, but to a certain local minority. For example, in England while relations between black and white seems relatively calm, certain groups of Asian minorities have been terribly mistreated. Have you noticed the way Muslim nations treat their minorities? ISIS terrorists from India were recently complaining that all they get to do is clean the toilets!

All over the world there exist certain ethnic tensions and problems between disparate communities.

Thankfully, as the evidence shows, in the United States we are among the most progressive when it comes to racial equality and amity. The next time someone pretends that America’s race issues “prove” how bad we are – you remind them of the facts… we are among the most racially tolerant nations in the world.
