International Committee Red Cross (ICRC) relief staffers were on the way with livestock and supplies for Afghanis just south of Shebergan, after the heavy snow fall they recently experienced. However, they did not reach their destination. The team’s convoy was ambushed, and six of the members were brutally murdered, while two are still missing.
The gunmen that attacked the ICRC relief team are still unidentified, as no group has claimed responsibility for it. The Taliban has denied having any involvement with the incident.
