What We’re Reading September 20, 2014

We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently!

It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day.

You’re welcome.

So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading Saturday September 20, 2014.

There may not be a wave election in the 2014 midterms – and if there isn’t the GOP has only itself to blame. Why? Because the GOP leaders decided American wanted a more “moderate” GOP – when in reality America is looking for a real alternative to the Democrats… not simply a watered down Democrat Party.

Maybe the Republicans should go all in and make this election a referendum on illegal immigration.

The plans being developed by the politicians in Washington will not destroy ISIS – nor will tey do anything to keep more terrorist groups from popping up.

When it comes to another fight in the Middle East it looks like it’s Rand Paul vs. the Cowards.

You won’t get any from prominent Republicans, who are more interested in hitting the administration for its fecklessness on ISIS. Certainly there was little genuine dissent from Democrats, who aren’t interested in debating another Middle East intervention for reasons of political expediency. “Leaders,” according to a Wall Street Journal piece from a few days ago, are unwilling to debate ISIS and Syria now “because of the risks involved in taking such a tough vote before the elections.” The real risk, right? Political careers. So what we had was a craven bipartisan plan to intervene in a sectarian war in the Middle East using a $1 trillion spending bill as cover.

The marriage rate is at an almost 100 year low!

How do our political differences influence what (and how) we teach our children?

Um – why does the NFL have “non-profit” status? You know who has a bigger domestic abuse problem than the NFL? The police. (Seriously – the research bears it out…)
