We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently!
It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day.
So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading Wednesday January 1, 2015.
Happy New Year! We at Eagle Rising are so thankful for you, dear reader. Because of you we can do what we do. Sincerest thanks for your support. We are looking forward to another great year at Eagle Rising!
Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA) is having a rough week. A couple of days ago a story leaked that Rep. Scalise had spoken before a white supremacist group some 12 years ago. Scalise says he never knew that the group was racist and he didn’t knowingly do anything wrong. Now he’s facing a firestorm of criticism…
Prominent black Republican State Senator Elbert Guillory is speaking out in ardent defense of Rep. Scalise.
“It is desperate attempt to create something that does not exist. Just look at the man’s record. Judge him by his record, not by who he meets, for God’s sake. That’s ludicrous.”
The Anti Defamation League (ADL) is satisfied with Scalise’s response to this mess.
It seems likely that Scalise didn’t actually speak at the event in question!
Some people want Scalise to step down for all of the wrong reasons.
Democrat Cory Booker (D-NJ) also has some ties to former KKK leader David Duke.
Charles Krauthammer thinks Scalise should step down from his leadership position.
Here’s hoping that Representative Scalise, who by every report we’ve read is a good man who detests racism, will have a better week next week.
The new liberal website du jour messes up… A LOT.
Jeb Bush vs. Chris Christie is going to be EPIC.
John McCain (R-AZ) is purging Arizona’s GOP leadership of Tea Party members before announcing his run for reelection in 2016.
