A “transgender” teen – a teen who was born a boy but has decided that he is actually a girl – will be allowed to use the girl’s restrooms and locker room at Atherton High School in Jefferson County Kentucky. The county appeals board decided to uphold the school’s nondiscrimination policy, which says that the school MUST accept whatever gender their students decide they would like to be.
Amazingly, the board is constructed of two teachers, two parents and a school administrator. I’m guessing that if either of the parents voted with the rest of the board (the vote came down 5-1), they must not have daughters in the school.
Clint Elliot, the lawyer for several Atherton High students and parents who were against the policy, said that the attempt at nondiscrimination simply discriminated against other students.
So students get to choose the restroom or locker room they use without any apparent monitor or control measures in place under the policy and no control to assure safety or privacy,” Elliott said. “Congress has not determined to amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to expressly add gender identity or to open bathrooms to the opposite sex as a civil right.”
Trending: What’s Wrong with Liberals?
Maggie Gallagher at the National Review provides our thoughts and skepticism for us…
The right to shower with girls is now an absolute right. You are a girl if you say you think you are and everybody else must comply with your self-definition…
As I have said before, I’m pretty sympathetic to the idea everybody needs a bathroom. But what kind of a society has priorities like these?
This is an abjectly ridiculous policy.
How can liberals and educators who constantly attack conservatives as “anti-science” actually support the ridiculous cause of the transgender activists? Science tells us that gender is a product of biology (or science), and that it can definitively be determined physically. Gender is not about ideas, feelings or how one thinks of themselves. It’s all about biology.
Moreover, this is a blatant attack on cultural conservatism. It is an overt attempt to make something natural that a large portion of our society deems unnatural. Because we cultural conservatives don’t agree with the efforts, beliefs, morals and culture of the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender communities, we must be forcefully made to comply with their values over our own.
The LGBT community’s rights have been judged as more important than our own, fellow conservatives… and if we don’t right the ship of individual liberties, our cause and our freedom will soon be lost.
