Pence Touches NASA Equipment, “Marco Rubio Dared Me”

I laughed for a solid five minutes before I could even write about this situation. I am so glad have we have such a humorous administration.

Vice President Mike Pense decided to touch some NASA equipment that was armed with a sign that said, “DO NOT TOUCH.”

His excuse? Marco Rubio dared him too! At least that’s what VP Prince tweeted out!

“Sorry @NASA…@MarcoRubio dared me to do it!” He tweeted on Friday.

I could just imagine it now…..I wonder if it was a double dog or triple dog dare? Rubio jokingly tweeted back that he warned Pence that if he broke it, he owned it!

Time reports:

But NASA says there’s no apology necessary for the incident at the Kennedy Space Center Thursday. “The ‘do not touch’ signs are there as a day-to-day reminder, including the one visible on the titanium Forward Bay Cover for the Orion spacecraft,” NASA said in a statement provided to TIME. “Procedures require the hardware to be cleaned before tiles are bonded to the spacecraft, so touching the surface is okay. Otherwise, the hardware would have had a protective cover over it like the thermal heat shield, which was nearby.”

Pence’s joking explanation came after the image had been circulating online for hours as people photoshopped it into different backdrops. Pence even tweeted out one of the doctored images:

Welcome to the 21st century, where our President tweets, the vice president of the United States touches expensive items on a dare, and the nation is literally in the midsts of a meme war with mainstream media.

Somebody pinch me. I must be dreaming.
