Liberal Critic of Islam says American Feminism is Focused on “Trivial Bullsh**”!

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a loud and important critic of Islam. She is a survivor of the violence that Islam perpetrates on women around the world every day, and she has willingly put herself in the path of danger to fight for women’s rights in the Muslim world. While we may disagree on many political issues, Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a women who should be commended for fighting for justice and against violence even in the face of danger.

For her commitment to women’s rights and her willingness to speak honestly and openly about the truth of Islam – Ali has been persecuted by her liberal brethren (or perhaps “sisterhood” would be better) here in America. She has been disinvited from college campuses, she has been protested at speaking engagements, and she has been treated in a very “illiberal” fashion by her fellow liberals. All because she remains unwilling to compromise on the truth that Islam is bad for women.

Last week, Ali spoke at the Independent Women’s Forum Women of Valor dinner, where she also received an award for courage. During her speech she opined on the sad state of feminism in America today.

“I want you to remember that once upon a time, feminists fought for the access — basic right — access of girls to education. That’s what feminists used to fight for — the access for girls to education. They used to fight for the recognition of girls as fellow human beings and recognition of their personal liberty.”

Ali continued by telling the crowd about her childhood in Somalia, where women are horribly oppressed, “If something wrong were to happen to me, and where I come from that happened all the time — you were groped, you were harassed, you were raped — you had no recourse because you weren’t supposed to be where you were. You were married off as a child and you had to obey the person that you were married to, it was just your luck. Feminists in this country and in the West fought against that and won the battle.”

Instead of using their victory in the West to influence the rest of the world, the feminists in America have squandered that victory and focused on what Ali calls “trivial bullshit.”

Using Rosetta Project, scientist Matt Taylor’s 2014 experience with feminist outrage (in 2014 Taylor got in trouble with feminists because he wore a shirt adorned with scantily clad women), Ali explained what she meant.

“What we are now doing with the victory, and I agree with you if you condemn that and I condemn whole-heartedly the trivial bullshit it is to go after a man who makes a scientific breakthrough and all that we as women — organized women — do is to fret about his shirt? We must reclaim and retake feminism from our fellow idiotic women.”

Ali finally called her listeners to reclaim feminism and refocus their efforts on “real issues” — like radical Islam’s war on women.
