Latest Pew Poll Finds that Republican Voters are Unhappy with GOP Congress

Over the years I’ve been writing for conservative blogs, websites and journals, I have often dealt with criticism from other Republicans who don’t appreciate my willingness to attack our own side. When I write negative pieces about John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Peter King, President George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and other Republicans who divert from the path of conservatism, it’s always my opinion – and you are always free to argue with me over the details – but a recent Pew Poll makes me feel vindicated.

In Pew’s most recent poll of American voters they’ve found that Republicans are extremely unhappy with the way the GOP Congress has governed over the last few months.

Here’s the problem. It’s the voters’ fault. This is what we in the conservative online community have been saying for years now. If GOP voters continue to elect moderate Republicans, then they will continue to be disappointed in the Republican Party.

Just look at these numbers on a few big publicity issues.

Just 37% of Republicans say that their party leaders are keeping their campaign promises, while 53% say that they aren’t. I’m just unsure of what GOP voters expected when they decided to re-nominate the politicians they did in the primaries. John Boehner (R-OH), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), David Perdue (R-GA) and many other moderate Republicans faced primaries against strong conservative candidates… and yet GOP voters elected moderate Republicans who would rather keep power than advance a conservative agenda.

Just think of it – this GOP Congress has been around for 5 months now and they’ve already caved on numerous BIG issues.

From HotAir:

Bob Corker rewrote the Constitution’s Treaty Clause so that Obama’s Iran deal can take effect if only one-third of the Senate supports it instead of two-thirds. Who could fail to be impressed by hubris like that?

GOP NoTo sum up the year thus far: They caved on executive amnesty by funding DHS, they caved on the Iran deal by passing Corker’s bill, then they caved on executive amnesty again by confirming Loretta Lynch, and now they’re preparing to cave on ObamaCare subsidies if the Supreme Court ends up shooting those down in King v. Burwell. All in the name of showing 2016 voters that the GOP can govern without any new shutdowns or debt-ceiling standoffs.

Which is to say, given a choice between letting Obama implement his agenda and risking a new shutdown, the new majority will take the former every time.

This has all happened in just five short months with big Republican majorities in both the House and Senate. Face it, we might have been better off when the Congress was run by Democrats and not accomplishing anything. A “Do Nothing” Congress is better than a GOP Congress that caves every time President Obama applies a little pressure.

Face it GOP voters, this is the Congress that you elected. These are the Republicans that you picked to run things for us. If you want them to actually act like conservatives, then you are going to have to actually start ELECTING Conservatives! You are going to continue to be disappointed and underwhelmed by the GOP as long as you continue voting for RINOs and weak-kneed pseudo-conservatives.
