Julian Assange Cut Off from World by Ecuadorian Government

With Julian Assange cut off from social media and all other communication (at least via the internet), we have to wonder what we’ll happen to him next.

Why is Julian Assange cut off from all internet communication with the outside world?

With Julian Assange cut off from social media and all other communication (at least via the internet), we have to wonder what will happen to him next. Our assurance that he hadn’t been assassinated came largely from his twitter feed. Additionally, he has been banned from having visitors.

And why would this happen now? The Ecuadorian government had granted Assange citizenship in that country. The (trumped up?) sexual assault charge had been dropped. The only thing left to hurt Assange legally is the British government’s insistence on pursuing a charge against him for jumping bail. That’s a minor charge but it could be used to extradite Assange to the United States.

The reason seems to be something that Assange was saying on social media.

Ecuador’s government is cutting off […] Julian Assange’s communications outside the nation’s London embassy.

Officials announced […] they were taking the measure in response to Mr Assange’s recent activity on social media.

As part of an agreement between Mr Assange and the Ecuadorean government, he is not permitted to send any messages that could interfere with the South American nation’s relations with other countries.

‘Only extraordinary pressure from the US and the Spanish governments can explain why Ecuador’s authorities should have taken such appalling steps in isolating Julian,’ they said.

If the Spanish government is involved in pressuring Ecuador to cut off Assange from the world, then Assange’s criticisms of the Spanish government for their treatment of Catalonia and the independence movement there could be the reason. Indeed, according to the Gateway Pundit,

A source close to Assange and the Embassy confirmed to The Gateway Pundit that this is due to Assange’s refusal to stop tweeting about Catalonian independence leader Carles Puigdemont’s arrest in Germany on a Spanish warrant.
