Joe Biden says the Middle Class Struggled Under President Clinton!

Wow – I never thought I’d see the day when Democrats began attacking President Bill Clinton, the “patron saint” of the Democrat Party.

But the day has finally arrived, and the turncoat is none other than Vice President Joe Biden, who is working hard to undermine Hillary Clinton while building his own credibility for a White House run.

In a speech on Thursday Biden argued that “the middle class was declining” throughout Clinton’s Presidency!

“The fact is, the middle class started to get into trouble in the late ‘80s,” Biden said. “All through the ‘90s with the exception of two years, the middle class was declining.”

Sadly, Joe, the fact actually is that the middle class was booming through the 80’s and 90’s and did not begin to decline until after the attacks of 9/11/2001 and the proceeding war on terror. What hurt the middle class was the country’s rapid dive into debt (which Republicans can claim at least half of the blame) and the economic collapse that began late in President George W. Bush’s second term.

The point is that the “conservative” economic polices in place from 1980 – 2002 (including most of the Clinton years ,1992 -2000) were what drove the middle class economy. Yes, the “wealth gap” grew (the rich got richer faster) – but the middle class got richer too (and so did the poor). The middle class began to suffer when more “progressive” or liberal fiscal policies were put into place during President George W. Bush’s 2nd term. (Due in large part to an overwhelmingly Democrat Congress.)

So no, Joe. The middle class wasn’t suffering in the 80’s and 90’s.
