Jeb Bush Says he’s Voting for Gary Johnson?

We already know who Jeb’s dad is voting for. He apparently made it clear to a Kennedy daughter that he was voting for Hillary Clinton.

And we already know that the Bushes don’t care much for Donald Trump. No one in the Bush family was able to make it to the Republican National Convention where Trump was officially nominated.

What’s clear is that the Republican establishment – and it doesn’t get more establishment than the Bush clan – are not fans of the Republican nominee. The Bushes have way more in common with their longtime friends in real life – but political opponents on TV – the Clintons than they do Donald Trump.

Perhaps it’s a little too risky politically for Jeb to come out and endorse Hillary Clinton. He’s still got a career ahead of him to worry about. He of course has family pressures to worry about as well.

So, he’s definitely not coming out for Trump. But he’s not going the other direction either. A good compromise in his eyes is Gary Johnson.

According to the New York Daily NewsJeb Bush repeatedly suggested his support for Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson – perhaps half-way in jest – to a crowd at a private luncheon.

As one attendee recalled to the Daily News“There was an old man talking to Jeb across the table and said, ‘I can’t bring myself to vote for Hillary and Trump,’ and Jeb looked at him and mouthed the word ‘Johnson,’ silently.”

In addition, during his speech, and according to audio obtained by the Daily News, Bush said, “If I did get a call several weeks after the election, what would I tell President Johnson — I mean, President whoever,” to laughs from the audience.

A Bush spokesman neither confirmed nor denied the statements. “Nothing has changed since the Governor wrote (a Washington Post) op-ed a couple months ago saying he couldn’t support Hillary or Trump,” Kristy Campbell said. “He has said he would consider voting for the Libertarian ticket. No decision/update though.”
