In the least surprising announcement since we heard President Obama declare Executive Amnesty… Jeb Bush has apparently decided to run for President in 2016. He took to Facebook yesterday morning to declare himself ready to go.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!
Like many of you, our family was blessed with the opportunity to gather together over the recent Thanksgiving holiday.
Columba and I are so proud of the wonderful adults our children have become, and we loved spending time with our three precious grandchildren.

We shared good food and watched a whole lot of football.
We also talked about the future of our nation. As a result of these conversations and thoughtful consideration of the kind of strong leadership I think America needs, I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States.
In January, I also plan to establish a Leadership PAC that will help me facilitate conversations with citizens across America to discuss the most critical challenges facing our exceptional nation. The PAC’s purpose will be to support leaders, ideas and policies that will expand opportunity and prosperity for all Americans.
In the coming months, I hope to visit with many of you and have a conversation about restoring the promise of America.
Best wishes to you and your families for a happy holiday season. I’ll be in touch soon.
While showing how “hip” and “tech savvy” you are by announcing on Facebook was actually a pretty smart way to go… CNN’s Peter Hamby points out the big flaw in the Bush team’s announcement.
Jeb announcing on Facebook = smart. Not using opportunity to collect initial round data/email addresses = not so smart.

I’m no Bush fan for reasons I’ve mentioned what feels like one thousand times. But honestly, my biggest problem with a Jeb Bush candidacy has nothing to do with Jeb Bush himself. It’s actually something that Jeb couldn’t control if he wanted to. It’s his brother and father… in fact, this may be the one time I think David Frum has hit the nail on the head.
In this magnificent land of opportunity, anyone can aspire to the presidency, provided only that an immediate relative had the job already.

This is America, folks! We don’t do “dynasties.” The Kennedy’s, the Clinton’s and the Bush’s aren’t royalty and we have a moral duty to not treat them as such. I can’t imagine the putrid dissatisfaction that will exist in the hearts of many Americans if in November 2016 they are forced to decide between Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush.
Are you kidding me?
Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Americans really have a strong desire to be ruled by one political family or another. Either way, Jeb Bush is in, and he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with for the other GOP candidates. Nobody will have deeper pockets, better name recognition, or heavier hitters with them on the stump. All of the other GOP hopefuls better be ready for a really tough fight.
