It is alarmingly frustrating and maddening that there are those of us who work extremely hard and have such large chunks of our hard earned money taken out of our paychecks.
Don’t get me wrong, I am okay with the money going towards our roads, paying teachers, and helping people who truly need help, i.e. the elderly, disabled veterans, and those have fallen on hard times.
Welfare is something that was created to be a temporary crutch to get through a hard time. However, over time, it has simply become a way for people to cheat work and still receive government assistance.
If you can afford any of these things, you do not need food stamps and welfare:
- A smartphone
- Lottery tickets
- New Tattoos
- New cars
- Cable tv
I am sure there are plenty more items to be added to that list but those are just the first ones to pop into my mind.
All of the things I listed above are luxuries. They are NOT necessary to survive. If you have means to survive – a place to live, clothes, water, food- then you do not need welfare. Welfare is meant for the people who cannot afford the means to survive.
If you are using welfare as a way to pay for your NEEDS in order to also be able to afford what you WANT, then you are part of the problem.
In some states, they have implemented a new law that requires people to work for the food stamps they are receiving. Guess what? The numbers of people receiving that government assistance PLUMMETED!
There are absolutely WAY too many people cheating the system and receiving welfare when it isn’t even really that they need help. It boils down to one thing: laziness.
Get up, go to work, and make an honest living. I am not saying it’s going to be easy because it isn’t always easy. In my home, we work hard and we work long hours. Does it suck sometimes? Yes, it does. However, we are able to afford everything we need and most of the things we want.
