If Any President Was Complicit in Causing Extreme Weather, It Was Obama!

The ‘Washington Post’ wrote: “When it comes to extreme weather, Trump is complicit.” But if anyone is guilty of climate crimes, it’s Obama.

“When it comes to extreme weather, Trump is complicit.”  —The Washington Post, counterfactually accusing President Trump of causing hurricanes and extreme weather, on September 11, 2018
“For the last hundred years, the ocean has risen 20 cm—but . . . for the last 300 years, the ocean has also risen 20 cm per 100 years.  So there is no unusual rise in sea level. . . .  You don’t have to even be a scientist to look at these figures and you understand what it says. . . .”  —Nobel Prize-winning scientist Ivar Giaever, in his half-hour speech “Nobel Laureate Smashes the Global Warming Hoax” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_5az5OIX2k)
Fact: If Emissions Are to Blame for Causing Hurricanes, Any Complicity Is Obama’s
Since President Trump took office, US emissions have actually gone down.  Therefore, if emissions do indeed cause global warming which leads to the creation of hurricanes, those emissions were released prior to President Trump’s tenure in office.  Breitbart News (https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/04/07/germanys-die-welt-proclaims-trump-successful-climate-protector-world/) reports that, “[i]n a bizarre irony, the German daily newspaper Die Welt has proclaimed US President Donald Trump ‘the most successful climate protector in the world’ after a new global climate report revealed that US carbon dioxide emissions dropped dramatically during Trump’s first year in office.”  According to CFACT(http://www.cfact.org/2018/06/26/politifact-disgraces-itself-on-u-s-emissions-ruling/), “a comprehensive study [is] issued every year by the energy company BP, called the Statistical Review of World Energy.  It uses a different methodology [than EPA] but produced similar findings as the EPA data—a 0.5 percent decline in emissions for the United States in 2017 (Trump’s first year) over 2016 (Obama’s last).”
The Consequences of Obama’s Driving Out of US Businesses to Unregulated Countries
President Obama, on the other hand, by overregulating American businesses and raising their taxes, drove many businesses from US shores to other countries with lower tax and regulatory burdens.  An ironic side-effect of Obama’s having chased so much production abroad is the fact that many such businesses immediately started to pollute the atmosphere at much higher levels, due to the lack of clean air standards in those countries.  China is a major polluter!  Every time a US business that emits CO2 moves to China, it often becomes a much dirtier enterprise.
Trump’s Attraction of So Many Businesses to America Means Cleaner Air Globally
With the Trump tax cuts, many businesses have begun moving production jobs to America (https://www.gobankingrates.com/making-money/business/companies-reinvested-america-following-trumps-election/), since it will again be profitable to do business.  It is a good thing, too, since, according to RT (https://www.rt.com/usa/china-air-pollution-export-926/), “[r]ising emissions produced in China are a key reason global emissions of air pollutants have remained at a high level . . . even as emissions produced in the United States, Europe, and Japan have decreased. . . .  Outsourcing production to China does not always relieve consumers in the United States—or, for that matter, many countries in the Northern Hemisphere—from the environmental impacts of air pollution.”  Chinese pollution, it would seem, travels across the Pacific to the West Coast of the US in six days, adding to the smog and pollution there.  This is truly ironic, since many businesses have been regulated right out of business in California, only to move to China, where, free of all constraints, they pollute more, to the even greater detriment of the West Coast than before.  Yet, as bad as all the Chinese pollution is for people living on the West Coast, whether or not it actually acts as a warming agent on the global environment is highly doubtful.
Dr. William Happer on Global Warming
Dr. William Happer, a top climate scientist, has famously said (http://www.climatedepot.com/2017/01/13/trump-meets-with-princeton-scientist-who-called-global-warming-fears-pure-belief-disguised-as-science/), “The incredible list of supposed horrors that increasing CO2 will bring the world is pure belief disguised as science.”  Happer has earned the right to make such pronouncements, since he is one of the leading experts in climate science and is the Cyrus Fogg Bracket Professor of Physics at Princeton University.  Dr. Happer has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers in science journals and has also served as Director of Energy Research at the Department of Energy (DOE) from 1990 to 1993, where he supervised the DOE’s work with regard to climate change.  Of CO2, Happer has stated that “CO2 is not a ureal pollutant and it is not a poison and we should not corrupt the English language by depriving ‘pollutant’ and ‘poison’ of their original meaning. . . .  For many decades, the citizens of the USA and of much of the world have been flooded with the message that CO2 is ‘carbon pollution.’  We are supposed to trust our government and selfless [nongovernmental organizations] for instructions on how to save the planet.  Much of the message is false, but its purveyors control key positions in the media, in the government, in scientific societies, in charitable foundations, etc.  This makes it difficult to get out the truth that climate science is far from ‘settled.’”
John Coleman
John Coleman (1934-2018), founder of the Weather Channel, wrote the following with respect to CO2 warming (https://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/10/23/weather-channel-founder-john-coleman-there-is-no-significant-man-made-global-warming-at-this-time/): “There is no significant man-made global warming at this time. . . .  Efforts to prove the theory that carbon dioxide is a significant ‘greenhouse’ gas and pollutant causing significant warming or weather effects have failed.  There has been no warming in over 18 years.  [And] 9,000 other Ph.D. scientists all agree with my opening two sentences.  Yet at your October 23 Hammer Forum on Climate Change you have scheduled as your only speakers two people who continue to present . . . failed science. . . .  The polar ice is increasing, not melting away.  Polar Bears are increasing in number. . . .  There is not an uptick in the number or strength of storms (in fact storms are diminishing). . . .  It has become a political and environmental agenda item, but the science [supporting this political agenda] is not valid. . . .”
The Good News for Obama
The good news for Barack Obama is this: Even though he raised emissions and increased worldwide pollution through his feckless policies, it would appear that at least he did not cause any hurricanes, since the emissions caused are likely not responsible for heating the oceans.  Obama’s complicity, it turns out, is limited.  And so it goes. . . .
