Hypocrites at PayPal Won’t Go to North Carolina but Doing Business in Cuba!

Our friend Gary DeMar has written much about the hypocrisy of liberal cities, states, and businesses who threaten to boycott conservatives for defending religious freedom, while continuing to do business with actual bigots. (For example: Apple and Coca-Cola both complained about Georgia Religious Liberty bill, but both also do business in Saudi Arabia where gays are routinely executed.) Now, another liberal business has given us reason to shake our heads in disapproval. The online payment company PayPal had plans to move some of their business facilities to North Carolina, but the state’s recent refusal to allow men into women’s facilities has brought those plans to a halt. Paypal refuses to do business with the bigots in North Carolina… however, they are happy to do business with the evil villains in Cuba. (By the way PayPal, the Castro regime has murdered hundreds, perhaps thousands, of homosexuals over the years…)

From Fortune:

As President Obama makes his historic visit to Cuba this week, online payments giant PayPal says it’s starting to bring its business to Cuba.

The effort is part of a deluge of interest by U.S. companies in Cuba including airlines, hotels and other tourist interests following the loosening of trade restrictions. PayPal CEO Dan Schulman, who is visiting Cuba this week along with President Obama, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, and many other CEOs, said that PayPal  PYPL 1.35%  would start allowing money transfers to and from Cuba later this year.

Sure, the Cuban government may not allow a free press, or free speech, or free assembly, but at least they aren’t like those conservatives in North Carolina who don’t want men in the ladies’ showers! I’m not sure how liberals become limber enough to participate in the logical gymnastics that they have to work through to arrive at their conclusions.

PayPal hypocrisy

The Reverend Franklin Graham noticed the hypocrisy, taking to Facebook to voice his displeasure.

PayPal gets the hypocrite of the year award! This company says they’re not coming to North Carolina because the legislators and Gov. Pat McCrory have passed a law to protect women and children against sexual predators by not allowing men to use women’s restrooms and locker rooms.

Congressman Robert Pittenger made a great point yesterday: “PayPal does business in 25 countries where homosexual behavior is illegal, including 5 countries where the penalty is death, yet they object to the North Carolina legislature overturning a misguided ordinance about letting men in to the women’s bathroom? Perhaps PayPal would like to try and clarify this seemingly very hypocritical position.”

PayPal operates in countries including Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and Yemen for Pete’s sake. Just last month PayPal announced they would be expanding in Cuba, a country in which homosexuals and transgender people have been imprisoned, tortured, and executed. PayPal only agreed to come to Charlotte in the first place after holding out for millions in corporate incentives. And under the current law that they are so strongly protesting, PayPal could have chosen their own corporate bathroom policies.

I’m very proud of NC Lt. Governor Dan Forest who said: “If our action in keeping men out of women’s bathrooms and showers protected the life of just one child or one woman from being molested or assaulted, then it was worth it. North Carolina will never put a price tag on the value of our children. They are precious and priceless. If a corporation wanting to do business in North Carolina does not see the worth of our children in the same light, then I wish them well as they do business somewhere else.” He couldn’t be more right! We need more politicians across the country with this kind of backbone. Pray for the NC governor, lieutenant governor, and legislators that they stand strong against the attacks of this wicked agenda.

We need to expose the blatant and disturbing hypocrisy of the left towards conservative states. It’s tiresome and bigoted and there is no place for it in our nation. We can agree to disagree without demonizing and demagoguing each other, can’t we?

Maybe liberals can’t? I mean, they have shown a general inability to think logically, act rationally, or speak helpfully. Maybe disagreeing without acrimony is beyond them.

Just a final note as a throw in on this – as I was finishing writing this piece, the state of Vermont announced that it was banning official travel to Mississippi over Mississippi’s decision to defend religious freedom. This is the same state of Vermont that has a socialist Senator who has routinely praised violent and repressive communist regimes like Cuba, the Soviet Union and formerly communist Nicaragua.
