Governor Scott Walker Finally Makes an Endorsement!

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R-WI) probably didn’t see the 2016 GOP presidential primaries turning out this way. If, this time last year, you would have asked him what he would be doing in March 2016, he probably would have said campaigning for the White House. He likely would have never guessed that just a few short months later his presidential hopes would be gone and he’d be sitting in Madison wondering which candidate he should endorse.

Well, the time for his endorsement has finally come now that the choices have significantly diminished. There was some talk a week or two ago that Walker might choose not to make an endorsement and instead push to be offered up as the nominee at the RNC (which could still happen). However, he’s chosen to go the safer route. In the week before voters in Wisconsin choose their candidate, he’s chosen to endorse Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for President.

Governor Walker was speaking to conservative Wisconsin radio talk show host Charlie Sykes when he made the announcement that he would be supporting Cruz for President!

“After eight years of the failed Obama-Clinton Administration, Americans are looking for real leadership and a new direction. Ted Cruz is a principled constitutional conservative who understands that power belongs to the states – and to the people – and not bureaucrats in Washington. Just like we did in Wisconsin, Ted Cruz is not afraid to challenge the status quo and to stand up against the big government special interests. He is the best-positioned candidate to both win the Republican nomination and defeat Hillary Clinton. That’s why I endorse Ted Cruz for President of the United States.”

Senator Cruz happily embraced Governor Walker’s endorsement, thanking him for his courageous leadership and for standing up to the special interests and for the people of Wisconsin.

“Governor Walker has been an outstanding leader in the conservative movement and I’m honored to have his endorsement. Gov. Walker courageously stood up to special interests and won in a bitter fight in Wisconsin. His leadership has made a profound impact on the people of Wisconsin and I welcome his advice on how we can unite the Republican Party and defeat Hillary Clinton in November.”
