Danny DeVito’s character in Twins (1988) said it best: “Money talks and bulls**t walks.” Do you want to get the attention of the foot-dragging GOP? Tell them that you won’t send them another penny until they move quickly to pass the proposed legislation they promised and helped to get them elected.
The Drudge Report carried these two article titles:
“On February 8, 2017, Matt Drudge tweeted, ‘No Obamacare repeal, tax cuts!’ and ‘Republican party should be sued for fraud. NO discussion of tax cuts now.’ Drudge was spot on,” writes Brian Darling for Observer.com.
Members of the GOP are dragging their feet on the repeal of Obamacare, tax and spending cuts, vetting immigrants, and not standing with Trump as he takes on the media, the Deep State, and Democrat obstructionists (as well as Republican ones) in Congress and the bureaucracies.
For years, the GOP leadership continued to tell us they couldn’t do much since Obama would veto any legislation they proposed. They needed the presidency. Now they have it. One report says that an Obamacare repeal won’t happen until 2018. I can hear the Republicans say, “We need to wait until after the 2018 elections.” Then it will be 2020. You know the drill.
You don’t have to agree with everything Trump has proposed, but immigration, Obamacare, and tax and spending cuts are a top priority. These issues are what got Trump elected and saved us from Hillary Clinton and everything she would have brought to Washington. The Deep State would have been deeper and the bureaucracies would have been entrenched for another 20 years.
The GOP is a defense-only party. It does not know how to lead. In fact, the GOP does not want to lead because the party does not want to have to defend its policies. Republicans don’t have policies to defend. They’ve never really developed a solid list of true constitutional policies that would result in less government, less spending, and more individual liberty. The party is more comfortable being a critic.
“Now that Republicans have control of Congress, they seem to have lost focus. On February 16, The New York Times reported, ‘After moving to start rolling back the Affordable Care Act just days after President Trump was sworn in last month, Republican lawmakers and Mr. Trump have yet to deliver on any of the sweeping legislation they promised. Efforts to come up with a replacement for the healthcare law have been stymied by disagreements among Republicans about how to proceed. The same is true for a proposed overhaul of the tax code.’”
In addition, the GOP Establishment is afraid of the media and special interest groups. It’s sad to say, but most politicians want to be liked. When has a Republican ever taken on the media like Trump has? The GOP Establishment is shaking in its boots during interviews hoping never to say a discouraging word.
France’s presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has more balls than most of the GOPers. She demonstrated that when she “canceled a meeting with Lebanon’s Grand Mufti Tuesday after refusing to wear a headscarf. . . . ‘You can pass on my respects to the grand mufti, but I will not cover myself up,’ she insisted.” (CNN) Establishment Republicans have never passed up an opportunity to cower and apologize for any word, action, look, or political principle that the media considers offensive.
What can you do? Call your congressman and Senators and tell them, “No money for you until the GOP moves quickly on the promised legislation.”
