GOP Candidate Bobby Jindal Deserves Better

Yesterday was an interesting day. On one hand, the forum on C-Span was a nice opportunity to preview candidates’ ability to answer questions on the spot, and think more on their feet. It was refreshing to hear something different than the usual repetitive variations of stump speeches they give at every gathering.

On the other hand, it was a sad day for those who wanted Planned Parenthood defunded. 53-46, the Senate failed to get the necessary 60 votes to get the bill up for debate. Aside from Democratic Senators Joe Manchin and Joe Donnelly, the Democrats block voted, and even one Republican joined them: Mark Kirk of Illinois. Yep. An alleged Republican turned off his soul for a day, and voted with the Democrats.

46 human beings know what Planned Parenthood does (specifically regarding the newly released videos in which officials talk about selling organs and tissue of aborted infants), yet voted down the effort to slash their cash—which is actually our cash.

46 elected officials think that what they saw in those videos still isn’t enough to cut off funding for this heinous place. Abortion is vile enough, but even the sale of body parts wasn’t enough to make these alleged human beings bat an eye.

It’s all talk. In Washington, there is no doing, there is only talking about doing. That’s where Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana comes in. He unilaterally decided to cut off funding in his state to Planned Parenthood. It was that simple. I mean, they should never have gotten taxpayer money in the first place, but now is good, too. Jindal did. He didn’t just talk, he took action.

After making the decision to cut off Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood, Jindal said in a statement:

“In recent weeks, it has been shocking to see reports of the alleged activities taking place at Planned Parenthood facilities across the country. Planned Parenthood does not represent the values of the people of Louisiana and shows a fundamental disrespect for human life. It has become clear that this is not an organization that is worthy of receiving public assistance from the state.”

As Jindal is trailing in the polls, I would admonish the American people to look to his record—specifically his efforts to help his state even when the Obama administration sued him. Google it—and give him their presidential attention.

Jindal isn’t perfect. No one is. But he has a stunning track record of doing. Whether it’s school choice, or defunding the demon of Planned Parenthood, he doesn’t twiddle his thumbs. Thank God for that.

Jindal deserves our attention, not 1.2% in the polls.
