Update: Europe Pushes ‘Moral Duty’ Abortion: ‘Abort Handicapped Children or Pay Fine’

There was a slight miscommunication in the translation. Originally, I wrote that Dutch Dr. Stefan Paas was supporting articles that propose  handicapped children be aborted. However, when he tweeted out about the situation, he was actually speaking out against the movement that is sweeping across many countries across the pond.

Dr. Pass opposes the abortions that are being pushed on parents and tweeted to me in correction:

Hitler wanted a country where everyone looked the same, with blonde hair and blue eyes. To him, that was a perfect race. In order to achieve that, he mass murdered people (especially the Jewish) that did not fit the mold of his ideology.

Thus, the holocaust.

Now, there are certain European countries who are pushing for the abortion of any child that has down syndrome or other abnormalities. They then report and brag of the nearly non-existent handicaps in their country.

The only way that would be impressive is if they found a way to isolate the defects and prevent them. Instead, they are simply murdering the babies who show signs of possibly have down syndrome or autism.

It’s barbaric.

German Dr. Stefan Paas has proposed that parents face a fine if they choose not to abort a pregnancy showing signs of handicap.

He tweeted out (translated from German), “Disabled children cost money, so parents: abort, or otherwise face a fine.”

Quoted Dr. Stefan Paas on twitter. ‘We haven’t come this close to Nazi before.’ The quote was taken from a letter published in a National newspaper. It stated that the freedom to birth disabled children should be limited by the ‘financial burden’ to society. Declining to abort, argues letter-writer Michael van der Lubbe, despite the availability of prenatal technology like Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), should have financial consequences for parents. His letter followed a stream of articles in the media with suggestive titles as ‘Better [off] without Down’.

I translated the piece that he refers to from German to English and this is what it reads:

“‘Down’s syndrome is almost eradicated in our society,’ said Icelandic geneticist Kári Stefánsson recently in an interview. In Iceland, only two to three children with the syndrome are born annually. In the Netherlands, average between 200 and 250 children. Now that the Non Invasive Prenatal Test (NIPT) is being offered in the Netherlands since April, it is the question of whether syndrome will disappear soon.”

The piece continued, “If it is not located at the Netherlands Care Institute Netherlands. At least, the institute recently advised to keep the NIPT out of the basic package of health insurance. This means that only the happy few will have access to the test in order to decide on the further course of pregnancy. The group who can not pay it has no choice. The fate is decided for them.”

This is such an extremely sad and unfortunate way of thinking. To eradicate a certain type of person by murdering them all is wrong on every inch of the morality spectrum.
