GA Driver Uses Alien Doll to Utilize HOV Lane

One of my favorite mottos is, “Work smart, not hard.” Meaning, be smart about your work so that you can do it in the most efficient way possible.

One Fulton County, Georgia driver seemed to have this mindset too, only they forgot the “smart” part of it.

In order to qualify to use the HOV lane on the interstate in Atlanta, the car must have two or more people inside. The use of these lanes began in December 1994 to help encourage carpooling in the extremely populated area.

Therefore, the driver thought putting the alien doll in the front seat would make it appear as if another person was in the vehicle as well. Unfortunately for this person, police are smarter than that.

Alpharetta police see many strange things while on duty, but this is one of the most unusual one’s they’ve had to deal with.

WSBT reports:

Only vehicles with two or more living and not pre-infant persons in the vehicle, emergency transport, motorcycles, buses or alternative fuel vehicles, properly licensed with an AF license , can ride in the HOV lane.

According to Georgia’s Department of Driver Services, persons who violate the HOV lane law are guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable under Code Section 40-6-54.

The report does not say whether the person received a ticket or not.
