Finally an Accomplishment! Obama Turns Putin into World’s Most Powerful Leader

We conservatives can no longer say that President Obama hasn’t gotten anything done. In fact, he’s managed to do something that many might have thought nigh impossible.

President Obama singlehandedly took the leader of a nation whose economy was floundering, whose military was near obsolete, whose people live in poverty and without many basic freedoms (including the right to elect their leaders freely), whose media is state-owned and who is actively despised by much of the free world… and he turned him into the most powerful man on the planet.

President Obama’s actions (and inaction) have lent Vladimir Putin of Russia the leverage and the opportunities to maneuver Russia into a place of preeminence in international politics. At every turn, Putin has out-thought, out-worked and out-politicked our President, and all of those efforts finally came to a head on Monday when the two men gave dueling speeches at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City. Both leaders used their speeches to take a few swings at the other, but it was Putin’s blows that landed hardest – particularly when he accused President Obama of failing to learn from the Soviet Union’s many failures.

We also remember certain episodes from the history of the Soviet Union, social experiments for export, attempts to push for changes with other countries based on ideological preferences, which often lead to tragic consequences. And to degradation rather than progress.

Obama and PutinIt seems that far from learning from the mistakes of others, everyone keeps repeating them. And so the export of revolutions, this time of so-called democratic ones, continues…

Rather than bringing about reforms and addressing foreign interference, it resulted in a brazen destruction of national institutions and lifestyles.
Instead of the triumph of democracy and progress, we got violence, poverty and social division.

But it wasn’t just with rhetoric that Putin bested Obama on Monday. We also found out that our ally, Iraq, had switched teams and moved into the Russian camp. Iraq, Russia, Syria and Iran have begun working together, sharing intelligence and plan on fighting back against ISIS together. In the game of chess that is international politics and strategy, Putin has proven himself to be a grandmaster, while his opponent, President Obama, apparently thought they were playing checkers.

On Tuesday, the New York Post’s Benny Avni has some even harsher (but still true) words for President Obama and his liberal supporters.

The baton was officially transferred Monday to the world’s new sole superpower — and Vladimir Putin willingly picked it up.

President Obama (remember him?) embraced the ideals espoused by the United Nations’ founders 70 years ago: Diplomacy and “international order” will win over time, while might and force will lose.

Putin, too, appealed to UN laws (as he sees them), but he also used his speech to announce the formation of a “broad international coalition” to fight ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

“Similar to the anti-Hitler coalition, it could unite a broad range of forces” to fight “those who, just like the Nazis, sow evil and hatred of humankind,” he said.

And who’d lead this new coalition? Hint: Moscow has always celebrated the Allies’ World War II victory as a Russian-led fete.
