Famed Watergate Reporter Carl Bernstein Says ‘Trump is an Enemy of the Truth’ [VIDEO]

The big news over the past couple days has been a tweet that the President sent out on Friday, in which he said that the fake news media is not his enemy, but the enemy of the people.

Liberals all around are in an uproar. Senator [score]John McCain[/score] said that this is how dictators get started. CNN’s Brian Stelter was in shock. He said President Trump’s words were ‘toxic’ and ‘poison.’

“These actions and these words matter,” Stelter said. “His words inspire many people, but they instill fear in many others. His words are what won him the election. Words like ‘Crooked’ and ‘Build a Wall.'”

He added, “Now, words like ‘fake news’ are part of a never-ending campaign. I would describe those words as poison.”

Let’s not forget who started this ‘campaign’ against ‘fake news.’ It wasn’t Trump. Remember, the media blamed Trump’s victory on what they called ‘fake news.’ If Hillary Clinton had won, there would be no such thing as ‘fake news.’

President Nixon’s adversarial relationship with the media was well known, but as Stelter said, he mainly kept to himself about how much he hated them. Carl Bernstein, one of the famed reporters who covered Nixon’s Watergate scandal, said that not only is Trump’s relationship with the media more ‘treacherous’ than Nixon’s ever was, but ‘Trump is an enemy of the truth.’ Take a look:

They’re all complaining that Trump is going to shut them down. I actually would not be in favor of that. Which is why I’m not in favor of those with political influence (and the media) shutting down conservative and libertarian-leaning media organizations. That’s exactly what they’ve been trying to do ever since Hillary Clinton lost. They’ve been trying to use social media to shut down our organizations by labeling us ‘fake news.’ They know that most of our business is generated by the internet, and in particular social media outlets like Facebook.

So, while they’re actively trying to shut us down just because they can, they’re complaining that Trump wants to shut them down, comparing him to Hitler, Stalin, (and Nixon), and how terrible it is for a president to want to do that to an institution that’s vital to the survival of our ‘democracy.’

I think the moment they give up trying to shut us down in the name of ‘democracy,’ Trump will perhaps relent in his rhetoric against the big media.
