The Director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was on CBS’ Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer this past Sunday Morning to discuss the developments in the ongoing battle to stop the spread of Ebola.
His message was likely intended to be reassuring, but instead came across as pretty creepy.

“We’re deeply concerned about this new development with a preliminary positive [test for Ebola],” CDC Director Thomas Frieden said. “The fact that we don’t know about a breach in protocol is concerning because, clearly, there was a breach in protocol.”
“Even a single breach [of safety protocol] can result in contamination,” he said. “We have the ability to prevent the spread of Ebola by caring safely for patients.”
Okay. So is the CDC “deeply concerned” about the patient? Or is the CDC “deeply concerned” about the fact that Ebola has spread to another victim, even though it seems that all of the proper protocols were followed? If the CDC is “deeply concerned,” should the rest of us be equally concerned?
Over the last few days (and weeks) we’ve been told to remain calm, the likelihood of any possible outbreak is minimal, and it’s believed that here in the US we can handle Ebola. But there sure does seem to be mixed messages coming from our media and our medical community…
