Disney Bans Veteran After Holding Up Trump 2020 Sign on Water Ride

Walt Disney World has banned a customer because he held up a Trump 2020 sign while riding the park’s Splash Mountain ride.

Dion Cini, a 49-year-old Marine Corps veteran from New York City, says he was banished from Orlando, Florida’s, Walt Disney World because he “trespassed” by holding up a Trump 2020 sign for the snapshot photo as he rode the water ride.

Cini announced his punishment on Facebook:

According to the New York Daily News:

“Forty Disney employees escorted me out,” recalled Dion Cini, 49.

“I held up the sign for two seconds so I can take a picture,” he told The Post. “You’re allowed to hold up signs on Disney rides — cameras, cellphones, and other stuff like that. People have been doing it for years. They just kicked me out ’cause of the context of the sign.”

Cini, an annual pass-holder with over 1,000 days in the parks, shared the news of his banishment on Facebook — along with a note from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, outlining the requirements.

According to the papers Cini provided, the park police said he “Trespassed from all of Walt Disney World properties to include, but not limited to, Theme Parks, Water Parks, Resorts and Disney Springs.”

Disney claims its rules are meant to prevent “unauthorized events, demonstrations or speeches, or the usage of any flag, banner or sign for commercial purposes, or to incite a crowd.”

Cini noted that he was given a temporary ban in 2017 when he unfurled a large Trump banner in a very public place. They said he violated the rules of “inciting” that time. But this time it was a small sign where no one could really see it, he explained.

“The first time might have been borderline inciting the crowd, and they called me back and said they’d let me in,” Cini told the media. “The second time, I just help up a small sign…and I did not incite a crowd. So, I actually proved my own theory. That they kicked me out ’cause of the context of the sign and not the policy.”
