Detroit Pistons’ Audience Boos Kid Rock, Cheers for Eminem

Sometimes, the price of putting your opinions and political opinions out on the table when you’re a celebrity, is that you will receive backlash from those opposing you.

Eminem, famous for his raps about beating and raping women, took the spotlight at the Detroit Piston’s game on Wednesday. He was cheered on, but not for his music necessarily. It was more for the fact that he took a strong stance against President Donald Trump in an explicit rap. A stance that lost him a lot of fans, as he told them that he did not want them as fans if they supported the president. He even went as far as to say “f— you” to fans that support the president.

Real classy guy.

Obviously the crowd was heavily liberal because they not only cheered on Eminem, but they booed Kid Rock when he came across the JumboTron.

The Hill reports:

Eminem and Kid Rock both appeared on the JumboTron during the game against the Charlotte Hornets. While the crowd cheered for Eminem, they booed when Kid Rock appeared, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Pistons Coach Stan Van Gundry said that the crowd was able to “make a statement” by their response, ”without making a statement.”

Van Gundy has been a critic of President Trump, calling the president “openly and brazenly racist and misogynistic” and slamming his travel ban as “fear-mongering.”

Eminem and Kid Rock — real names Marshall Mathers and Robert Ritchie, respectively — have both been in the political eye lately.

Kid Rock is a big Trump supporter, and tossed his hat into the ring to run for U.S. Senate from Michigan.

He is actually quite popular in the state and is considered a great pick to run against Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow.

Interestingly enough, both artists grew up in the state of Michigan.
