Denmark Stops Refugee Resettlement

The Danish government announces an end to the U.N. refugee resettlement program and demands more flexibility in the future.

Denmark is suspending refugee resettlement in their country because they aren’t integrating them fast enough. While this decision only involves the United Nations, and doesn’t address European Union mandates, it is hard to see how Denmark is not going to challenge them as well. We  have a major Liberal European country officially admitting that immigration is getting out of hand.

According to Bloomberg: “Denmark Suspends Refugee Resettlement Under UN Program.

Denmark won’t allow any refugees into the country this year under a United Nations program and will seek flexibility in determining how many may resettle in the future instead of a set quota, the Ministry of Immigration and Integration said.

Here’s a Google-translated news story that includes excerpts from a statement by Inger Stojberg, the Minister of Immigration and Integration:

“It is very difficult to predict how many refugees and migrants suddenly stand on the border and seek asylum and we know that it can be difficult to integrate those who come to it. Therefore, I would like to make the quota system flexible so that we prepare for, but do not commit ourselves to taking a certain number of quota refugees a year. ”

“Although we have tightened up so the number of asylum seekers has fallen, there is still a huge task ahead of us. There have been about 56,000 asylum seekers over the past five years, and we must expect many of them to get their families with it. Therefore, I do not think we have room for even quota refugees this year.”
