Deep State’s IG Report: You Can’t Drain the Swamp!

Inspector General Michael Horowitz was never going to expose anyone in the deep state to prosecution.

The IG report whitewashes the FBI and Comey just like Comey whitewashed Clinton.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz was never going to expose anyone in the deep state to prosecution. The IG reports says that James Comey broke procedures and hurt the FBI’s “image of impartiality.” These people have only one legal strategy. James Comey said that Hillary Clinton did a bunch of bad things but they didn’t “rise” to a level of criminality. When AG Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton had that secret meeting that was exposed, the media said it gave the “appearance” of impropriety.

No, it was the essence of impropriety and Lynch should have at least been immediately fired. The IG report does the same: admitting wrongdoing while blithely asserting that we can’t believe our eyes that the FBI is a corrupt DNC cesspool of organized crime. No, nothing was done out of political bias.

Bloomberg gives the official story: “Comey Broke From FBI Procedures in Clinton Probe, Watchdog Finds.

Former FBI Director James Comey “deviated” from bureau and Justice Department procedures in handling the probe into Hillary Clinton, damaging the agencies’ image of impartiality even though he wasn’t motivated by politics, the department’s watchdog found in a highly anticipated report.

“While we did not find that these decisions were the result of political bias on Comey’s part, we nevertheless concluded that by departing so clearly and dramatically from FBI and department norms, the decisions negatively impacted the perception of the FBI and the department as fair administrators of justice,” Inspector General Michael Horowitz said in the report’s conclusions, which were obtained by Bloomberg News.

Although the report being sent to Congress on Thursday doesn’t deal with the origins of the probe into Russia meddling in the 2016 U.S. election and possible collusion with those around President Donald Trump, the president and his Republican allies in Congress were primed to seize on it as evidence of poor judgment and anti-Trump bias within the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Justice Department.

Horowitz examined actions taken by top officials before the 2016 election, including the handling of the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server when she was secretary of state. The inquiry expanded to touch on an array of politically sensitive decisions by officials including Comey and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Some of what Horowitz discovered has already been made public, and Trump and Republican lawmakers have pounced on those findings in an effort to discredit Comey and, by extension, the investigation now being run by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

In tweets, Trump has called Comey’s investigation into Clinton “phony and dishonest” and said that Comey, who he fired on May 9, 2017, left the FBI’s reputation in tatters.

Donald Trump was and is absolutely right. Indeed, the FBI hid damning evidence to only be exposed in the IG report so that it could be neutralized “legally.” Republican Congressman Ron DeSantis tweeted about it.

Congress was not allowed to see that text message until now. It was illegally withheld from them.

Addendum: After writing the main body of the post, I read this at the Conservative Treehouse:

Important note.  Read, but don’t focus on, the “executive summary” or “conclusions”; those two sections were written by political administrators in FBI and DOJ leadership.  Focus on the substance of the documented facts within the IG report.  You’ll note the specific facts don’t support the “summary/conclusion”.

So maybe there are resources within the report that are better than the official “conclusions.” (And maybe the IG did a better job than the media tells us.) Stay tuned.
