Conservative Wins Primary – Attacks GOP Establishment in Victory Speech

Justin Amash is one of the most conservative members of Congress, yet the GOP Establishment (which pretends to value conservatives) supported a primary candidate against Amash.

Not only did the establishment support a newcomer against a conservative incumbent – they supported one of the most craven and principle-less politicians in America, a man named Brian Ellis.

During the campaign Brian Ellis said things like this:

“He’s got his explanations for why he’s voted, but I don’t really care. I’m a businessman, I look at the bottom line.” He has no use for Amash’s constitutional scruples, remarking, “If something is unconstitutional, we have a court system that looks at that.”

Trending: Thomas Jefferson & the Mussulmen (Muslim)

Yeah, the GOP establishment supported a guy who doesn’t care about the constitutionality of the laws he is passing.

Brian Ellis also ran ads like this one:

This ad is full of lies and distortion, the worst being that Amash voted against spying on terrorists.

What Amash voted against was the NSA spying on innocent Americans like you and me.

Brian Ellis is immoral, he has no ethics by which he stands, and the only thing that matters to him is power. He is a Washington, D.C. insider who routinely runs in the circles of power within the GOP establishment. His campaign against Amash was DISGUSTING.

On Abortion, Gun Rights, Spending, Taxes and so much more Amash consistently rates among the most conservative Representatives in Congress. (You can check his numbers here.)

It was at the end of this long campaign fight and with the dirty tactics that he faced from Ellis and the GOP establishment, that Rep. Justin Amash won his primary battle and gave this epic anti-establishment speech.

From Politico:

“To Brian Ellis, you owe my family and this community an apology for your disgusting, despicable smear campaign,” Amash said on Tuesday after winning the GOP primary. “You had the audacity to try to call me today, after running a campaign that was called the nastiest in the country.”
During his speech, Amash claimed that he “ran for office to stop people like [Ellis].”

“I ran for office … to stop people who are more interested in themselves than doing what is best for their districts,” Amash said. “Everyday Americans are taking back their government from the crooks and the cronies.”

“I want to say to lobbyist Pete Hoekstra, you’re a disgrace,” Amash said. “I’m glad we can hand you one more loss before you fade into total obscurity and irrelevance.”

The GOP truly must hate conservatives.

“So there’s this congressman—Amash—and he’s from Michigan. And he votes consistently against big government, consistently against corporate welfare, consistently against government subsidies for corporations.

“So guess who’s targeting him in a primary—a sitting incumbent Republican congressman? The United States Chamber of Commerce a.k.a. Crony Capitalism. . . .

“And so they’re pouring tons of money into these primaries—not only to support incumbents now, but to defeat an incumbent in Michigan because he will not toe their line. It’s like the mob.”
