Coach: Rich Black Athletes Live in a Racist Country

NBA coach Gregg Popovich thinks, because we are a racist country, we need more exposure to Black History Month.

Recently, Gregg Popovich, the coach of the Spurs, spoke out about why the NBA should promote Black History Month. The main reason is that America is a racist country. How? The fact that blacks dominate the NBA despite the desire of many white men to play basketball is one of many facts that undermine this complaint against America.

KSAT 12 reports, “Popovich comments on importance of Black History Month: ‘We live in a racist country.’

“I think it’s pretty obvious — the league is made up of a lot of black guys, so to honor that and understand it is pretty simplistic,” Popovich said. “How would you ignore that? But more importantly, we live in a racist country that hasn’t figured it out yet and it’s always important to bring attention to it, even if it angers some people. The point is that you have to keep it in front of everybody’s nose […].”
