Chris Christie Argues with Heckler – About Bruce Springsteen

Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) famously mixes it up with hecklers at his town hall meetings and speaking engagements.

However, the latest confrontation was probably not one that he or any of his staff saw coming. The Governor was preparing to speak at a town hall meeting on Tuesday when he decided to take some questions from the crowd.

The question that sparked the heated conversation was about Governor Christie’s use of Bruce Springsteen’s music at his events.

After the woman suggests that Springsteen has asked that the Governor stop using his music – Christie responds.

“No. Never did that. Nah, you’re wrong about that. Bruce has never asked me to do that. I saw Bruce about a week and a half ago. And he had every opportunity to tell me not to. He didn’t and he never has.”

Chris-Christie_318113kApparently, Christie’s word was not enough for the woman who continued to pester him on the subject.

“Nah, listen: I know him and you’re wrong. I understand you’re now expressing your politics. You’re now expressing your politics and your objection, and that’s fine. Don’t put it in Mr. Springsteen’s mouth. Put it in yours. Don’t put it in Bruce’s mouth. I know Bruce. I’ve spoken to Bruce. And you’re wrong. Speak your mind. Be angry or not. It doesn’t matter to me.”

The woman may have had other more pertinent questions but by leading with the Springsteen attack – she lost any chance to engage the Governor on serious issues.

“No, no, no. I think I’ve heard pretty much what you’ve had to say. I think we got the idea. Seriously, when you start off by mis characterizing something … you’ve got no place else to go with this story,” Christie said when she tried to steer the conversation elsewhere. “If you want a debate, run for governor and then I’ll debate you.”

Even if I disagree with him on a whole host of issues… I love watching Christie on the attack.

Also, it seems that you should avoid messing with the Governor when it comes to the Boss. Just sayin’.
