Naturally she claims to want border enforcement but doesn’t think Trump should actually be doing it. Somehow border enforcement should not actually include enforcing the law.

The Hill reports, “Laura Bush blasts Trump migrant policy as ‘cruel’ and ‘immoral.’

Former first lady Laura Bush tore into the Trump administration for separating migrant families at the border, calling the “zero tolerance” policy “cruel” and “immoral.”

Bush penned an op-ed for the Washington Post, which was published Sunday night as public outcry over the hundreds of children in detention centers intensified.

“I live in a border state,” Bush wrote. “I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.”

Bush wrote that the detention centers were “eerily reminiscent” of Japanese-American internment camps during World War II.

Yes, but the detention centers, as ordered by liberal icon President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, were populated by American citizens who hadn’t broken any law. These centers are to take care of foreign children whose parents have broken American law. If they want to stay intact as a family they need to not commit crimes (just like American citizens must not commit crimes if they don’t want to be separated from their children by being sentenced to prison).

The next day the Democrats engaged in activism to provide more negative publicity for Trump. The Hill reports, “Dem lawmakers make surprise visit to ICE detention center.

Several Democratic lawmakers on Sunday paid a “surprise Father’s Day visit” to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center in New Jersey, capping off a week of heightened tensions surrounding the issue of migrant family separations.

Reps. Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.), Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Adriano Espaillat (N.Y.), Carolyn Maloney (N.Y.), Frank Pallone Jr. (N.J.), Albio Sires (N.J.) and Bill Pascrell (N.J.) arrived around 9 a.m. at the Elizabeth, N.J., center, which houses migrants who were separated from their families after illegally crossing the border.

According to Jeffries, the lawmakers were blocked from entering the facility after meeting initial resistance from ICE staff.

“After being made to wait over an hour. After having to deal with local PD. After banging on the door and making it clear that we WILL NOT MOVE until we’re allowed in, ICE is finally granting us access to see individuals who have been separated from their families,” Maloney tweeted.
