Bernie Sanders: ‘I’m Deeply Humiliated’ Dems Can’t Talk to White People

The presidential election may seem like an eternity ago by now, but a lot of people are still dealing with the fallout and surveying the damage, and wondering how it all went down.

Senator Bernie Sanders was on “CBS This Morning” discussing why Hillary didn’t win by 10 percentage points.

“[T]here needs to be a profound change in the way the Democratic Party does business,” Sanders said. “It is not good enough to have a liberal elite. I come from the white working class, and I am deeply humiliated that the Democratic Party cannot talk to the people from where I came from.”

One of the hosts Charlie Rose brought up the internal email from the Clinton campaign that blamed her devastating loss on FBI Director James Comey’s actions in the final week before the election.

“It’s not a question of what happens in the last week,” Sanders responded. “The question is that she should have won this election by ten percentage points. The question is, why it is that millions of white working class people, who voted for Obama, turned their backs on the Democratic Party, and I think a lot of people do not think the Democratic Party is standing with them. That has got to change.”

I think the Democrats have been pandering exclusively to minority groups for so long that they’ve forgotten about white working class people, with whom Bernie Sanders identifies.

Democrats are concerned with the “black vote,” the “Hispanic vote,” the “woman vote,” the “gay vote,” the “trans vote,” the “green vote,” etc. The last thing on their minds is white people. They hate white people. They slam them constantly for being “racist” and “Islamophobic.” They’re the ones who “cling to their guns and religion.” No wonder these white people – as Bernie Sanders said – “turned their backs on the Democratic Party.”
