Bad News for Hillary Clinton – the FBI is Optimistic they Can Recover Her Emails!

The FBI reported this afternoon that it may be able to recover at least some data from Hillary Clinton’s private email server despite efforts to wipe the server clean. So says NBC News, drawing on information from two sources with direct knowledge of the process.

The FBI is investigating the security of Clinton’s personal server and the thumb drives that contain emails related to her work as secretary of state during President Barack Obama’s first term. The Clinton campaign has previously acknowledged that there was an attempt to wipe the server before it was turned over last week to the FBI.

I can appreciate that Team Clinton was straightforward in its admission that it attempted — unsuccessfully it appears — to expunge all information from the sever. But to my knowledge, no one has yet asked why they attempted to wipe the sever clean.

Or when. If it was after government ages asked that the server be surrendered to them, then it seems to be an admission that Clinton had something to hide — and was aware that she did despite protestations to the contrary.

The FBI “will try to figure what’s there, how it got there and who put it there,” one of the sources said.

A team of intelligence community reviewers also looking at emails from the server have identified 305 documents that have been referred to their agencies for further consultation, State Department lawyers said in a court filing Tuesday intended to update a federal judge on efforts to release the emails.
