Bad Choice: Dad Wears Halloween Costume to Mall, Mistaken for ISIS Militant

Wow, some halloween costumes should not be worn into public places. One example of that is a costume (complete with a fake gun) that could cause you to be mistaken as an ISIS militant.

One Nebraska father didn’t get the memo, and wore his costume to a shopping mall, sparking panic among shoppers.

Fox News Insider reports:

Families scattered when they saw a man wearing a black cape and head covering carry a fake rifle and black luggage into Omaha’s Oak View Mall.

“It was a packed place, there were kids everywhere,” mom Desirae Anson told KETV. “Anything really could have happened.”

Mall security guards called police, but the costumed figure disappeared before he was apprehended.

This made things appear to be even scarier. However, Hugo Mendoza later saw the photo of himself in the costume going viral, and realized what has happened. The father of two girls knew that he needed to come forward and explain himself.

He claims that he was actually an “armed nun” from a movie called “The Town.”

Here is the trailer for the 2011 movie:

Hugo said, “I was there to have a good time with my daughters and my girlfriend. I wasn’t there to scare little kids or make people feel uncomfortable.”

If you ask me, I’d say that he is honestly lucky that he did not get shot. When people go into panic mode, they are in the fight or flight mode. If someone truly felt threatened, I would not have been surprised if they’d shot him.
