The blind veteran was assaulted and his flags were torn down and thrown into a ditch.
The legally blind veteran was wounded by a flare on Iwo Jima during World War 2. More recently Howard Banks suffered an attack from as-yet unidentified miscreants who went on his property and tore down his American flag and his Marine flag, but not before knocking Banks to the ground when he heard a noise and went outside his house to investigate.
According to the local Fox station, “Veteran, 92, attacked while protecting his flags.”
On July 11, a day before his birthday, the Marine heard someone outside pulling his American flag down. So he went outside to investigate.[…]
Banks said the first time this happened, about a year ago, someone shredded his American flag and ripped his Marine flag. He was determined not to let that happen again.

“They could see me. I couldn’t see them. I turned and looked in the other direction, and about then – wham! One of them knocked me down,” Banks said.
