What We’re Reading August 8, 2014

We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently!

It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day.

You’re welcome.

So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading Friday August 8, 2014.

This is bad… The tiny nation of Liberia is losing its fight against Ebola. The nation’s health system is on the verge of collapse, and the surrounding nations of West Africa may be in very real danger too.

The Kurdish people of northern Iraq are locked in a death-struggle with the oncoming ISIS terrorists. The Kurds look to be making their last stand against the overwhelming and barbaric forces of ISIS, and they are begging for our help in the fight. The Kurds have long been an ally of the US in the dangerous Middle East, and this could be an opportunity to build good will while also dealing a blow to the evil ISIS terrorists. So far we haven’t struck at ISIS, but we have begun humanitarian aid to the Kurdish people trapped by ISIS in the mountains of Iraq. (Or Not?)

The new face of ISIS is an Egyptian hipster… I kid you not. One more reason to hate the hipster culture.

The Republican primaries this year have taught us a lot about the state of the GOP. It seems that the majority of voters hate the establishment candidates but don’t think they can trust the Tea Party candidates to win a campaign.

Uh-oh. A new study finds that student debt is linked to worse health and less wealth!

Do not make this man angry… or he might make you pay for it.
