Obama’s Many Failures

Ed Asner was waxing on about the general way things work in the world at a party in Hollywood once. As he was summing up (apparently being heavily inebriated) he said “I have two words for you”   … he straightened himself up to his full five foot-three and mumbled “Nicaragua.” Then he sauntered off into the twilight …over by the open bar.

Being stone cold sober (never touching liquor…except the home made wine of the father of a buddy during seventh grade…after which I spent fifteen minutes under the tap in his dad’s basement mop sink…trying to get the taste out of my mouth), I have two words for you. They are Tiklat and Mosul. Those are cities in Iraq, recently captured by the Taliban (which as you will recall was pronounced dead by Dr. Obama, some months before his last election). It seems they are sweeping towards Baghdad with renewed troops and military vehicles captured and liberated from Iraq’s failing military bases and prisons. Naturally, Obama’s cronies and pals in the media aren’t mentioning this Taliban avalanche, since it might conceivably be construed as an admission of Obama’s complete inability to grasp any aspect of foreign policy and his utter failure as the “Leader of the Free World.”

Looking back to Obama’s eagerness to get out of Iraq a few years ago, and mimicking Ed Asner (sans booze), I have two more words for you. “Vietnam.” To think you can be protecting someone who is helpless and assure them they will be OK when you’re gone…because you have to leave them now (because of “bad press” or you’re “worried about your presidential legacy” or “the “war might start looking like it’s your handiwork instead of George Bush’s”) is cowardly, stupid, insulting, un-American, un-manly (need we say more?). In short, it’s “Obamaesque.”

Are Harvard boys too stupid to understand things like Vietnam? I guess this is a good time to remember that Harvard boys gave us Vietnam.

Two more quick words. “Screw ups….” Dear “Screw ups,” and you know who you are. Not the administration. You brilliant folks who assessed Obama all by yourselves and determined he was worthy of your confidence and votes (while knowing absolutely nothing about him). A word of advice. The next time you see a service member or veteran of Iraq or Afghanistan, etc., particularly if the cost of their sacrifice is patently evident, as with a prosthetic leg or arm, do NOT thank them for their service or even for their sacrifice which makes and keeps you free…and which includes the right to vote for our leaders. Instead, just apologize for how you voted. Your vote rendered their sacrifice meaningless. Meaningless.

It all ties together. One failure or scandal is the same as another because they all have the same root cause.

I am an attorney in Las Vegas who has always wanted to draw political cartoons, partly because I like drawing, but mostly because I enjoy ridiculing pompous know-nothings. Verbally debating them gets nowhere. They don't know they're beaten. But poking fun at them in a drawing leaves them without recourse or rebuttal. What can they do...? Call me names, whine, cuss me ... or maybe draw a witty riposte? Unlikely.
