Maine College Drops Teacher After She Offered Class Credit to Protest Against Justice Kavanaugh

A Maine university has cut ties with a former professor who was still serving as a part time teacher after she promised students class credit for protesting against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Professor Susan Feiner retired from the University of Southern Maine in July, but had still been serving as a teacher at the college. But after her unhinged posts to social media, the college ended its association with the woman, according to the Portland Press Herald.

The former professor recently announced that she would tech a “pop up course” in protesting against Maine Senator Susan Collins over her vote on Brett Kavenaugh. But apparently the former prof spoke just a bit out of turn and had never bothered to approach the school with her class idea.

So, the college dumped her.

“We are embarrassed by and apologize for the rogue behavior of a former colleague,” USM President Glenn Cummings said in a statement. “In response to her inappropriate actions, Dr. Susan Feiner has been notified that she is now barred from teaching at the University of Southern Maine, a prohibition that will be upheld by the other campuses of the University of Maine System as well.”

President Cummings continued, “an unauthorized class that advanced her personal political agenda.”

Cummings also noted that the teacher did not clear the class idea and no college resources were used for the “one-sided political activism.”

Feiner’s original posts raised concern that the school was putting tax dollars to her partisan lunacy, but the school has quickly corrected the record over her rants.

Maine Republican Party Executive Director Jason Savage praised the college’s actions.

“President Glenn Cummings and the University of Maine System showed true integrity in dealing with this situation swiftly. We are very pleased to see immediate, and forceful, action taken on this matter,” Savage told the paper. I personally extend my gratitude to President Cummings and those involved in addressing this situation.”

Mark this one as a very rare example of a liberal professor seeing real consequences for her hate-filled political activism.
