GOP Senate Leader McConnell Vows Vote on Kavanaugh THIS Week

Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (R, KY) says that he will call a vote on Judge Brett Kavanaugh regardless of what the FBI finds during its ongoing investigation into allegations of asexual abuse lodged against the judge.

The FBI was called in for a one-week investigation into the wild accusations of sexual harassment lodged against Kavanaugh, but the man who runs the scheduling for the U.S. Senate says that he intends to hold an up or down vote on the judge this week whether the FBI says it is done with its investigation or not.

McConnell referred to a memo from Arizona prosecutor Rachel Mitchell, who told Judiciary Committee members after being brought in to question Christine Blasey Ford at Thursday’s hearing that “I do not think that a reasonable prosecutor would bring this case based on the evidence before the committee.”

He added that he’s not “optimistic” Democrats “will stay consistent and accept the conclusions of the supplemental background investigation the FBI is now conducting.”

“The Democratic Leader and the ranking Democrat on the Committee both said recently that an FBI investigation can be completed in less than a week,” he said on the Senate floor. “But I’d bet almost anything that — after it runs its course in the next few days — we will then be treated to a lecture that anything short of a totally unbounded fishing expedition of indefinite duration is too limited, or too arbitrary, or somehow insufficient. We all know that’s coming.”

McConnell is 100% right that Democrats “just want to delay this matter past the election.”

“Maybe we’ll hear that the real issue is not these uncorroborated allegations of misconduct, after all. But rather the fact that Judge Kavanaugh – now listen to this – drank beer in high school and college. Or the fact that he was rightfully angry – who wouldn’t be – that his good name and his family have been dragged through the mud with a campaign of character assassination based on allegations that lack any corroboration. Who wouldn’t be angry about that?” McConnell added. “Their goalposts keep shifting — but their goal has not moved an inch.”

That is exactly their plan and it always was. They know that Christine Blasey Ford is a liar. They also know that none of the other accusations against Kavanaugh are even a tiny bit credible.

But “proving” sexual assault is not now, and has never been their goal.

What the Democrat Party really wants is to prevent Trump from putting Kavanaugh on the court until after the midterm elections. And, since they are expecting to take control of the House and maybe the Senate in November, they fully expect to be able to prevent Trump from EVER putting another justice on the bench. They also expect to win the White House in 2020 and then they imagine they can go right back to putting extremist, left-wingers on the bench like Sotomayor — and Republicans are dumb enough to assist them in doing it, too.

That is their grand plan. Delay, delay, delay, win the elections, and then prevent Trump from putting anyone on the highest court in the land ever again.

Of course, McConnell faces one small problem. His party is unreliable. If the situation was reversed, not a single Democrat would ever break ranks. Unfortunately, too many Republicans feel very comfortable betraying their party and the voters.

So, while McConnell may be standing strong, he may not be able to expect his own party to back him solidly. Too many left-wing, pseudo Republicans like Jeff Flake, Susan Collins, and others are out there just waiting to get the temporary love of the media by siding with the Democrats.

So, even if McConnell does hold that vote, Kavanaugh could still lose.
