Remember that female “Russian spy” that had supposedly used her sexual wiles to “infiltrate” conservative groups like the National Rifle Association? Well, now it looks like the whole thing was fake news.
Federal prosecutors in the case of the arrest of “Russian spy” Maria Butina, now say they were “mistaken” that she traded sexual favors for political reasons.
Per the Daily Wire:
The revelation came in a series of pleadings filed late Friday, insisting that while prosecutors still believe Butina is a flight risk and cannot be granted bail while awaiting adjudication on charges of espionage, they were “mistaken” when they read at least one of Butina’s text messages.
The Hill reports that back in July, when Butina was charged, prosecutors accused her of “trading sex in exchange for a position within a special interest organization,” because she’d sent flirtatious messages to a man who was not her boyfriend. Butina’s legal team challenged that interpretation last month, alleging that she had a close relationship with the man, who worked for a company she founded.
You might remember this case. The left said it was even more “proof” that the Russians had “infiltrated” our national political structure.
Now we are already starting to see the government’s case falling apart.
Once again we see this claim of Russian infiltration turning out not to be what it was advertised to be.
And where is the Mueller “investigation” into “Russian collusion”? Well, it has two big scalps, former Trump associates George Papadopoulos and Paul Manafort. And yet Mueller still has no proof of “collusion.” None at all.
Indeed, both convictions were had on things Manafort and Papadopoulos perpetrated when they were not working for Trump.
Not only that, but these convictions are for things that have nothing at all to do with any “collusion” with the Russians.
To date, the Mueller investigation has not one shred of evidence that the Trump campaign had any connection to Russia whatsoever.
