Heroic Media’s Pro-life Ad Deemed Controversial

The print media has some news for us naive American readers: babies are just far too controversial to print.

The newspapers will print the salacious minutiae of a love affair gone wrong. They will print the horrific particulars of some gruesome massacre in intricate and gory detail. They will print advertisements with mostly naked celebrities hawking some new scent or clothing line. They will print pictures of a violent attack by local thugs, or of near naked gay activists marching on main street, or of the after product of a violent altercation.

But God forbid they print a picture of a twenty week old baby.

Three separate newspapers of record, the Chicago Tribune, USA Today, and the LA Times have all rejected a proposed advertisement from a pro-life group called Heroic Media. The problem with the advertisement deemed “too controversial”?  It has an image of a twenty week old baby being held in the hand of an adult. That’s it. No gruesome abortion process image. No harsh language. No fiery rhetoric about the “culture of death.” Just a picture of a baby.

Recently Marco Rubio has announced that he will take up the fight to ban abortion after twenty weeks in the Senate; the move came on the heels of the House passing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Heroic Media’s desire with the advertisement was simply to educate people on what is actually happening when someone aborts a baby that is at least twenty weeks developed.

The leftist pro-death groups have long painted the argument as simply an issue dealing with a women’s body and a clump of tissue growing in her body. Science has disproven this line of thought over the last twenty or thirty years, but still the media allows the left to push their disproven science over real factual evidence. Heroic Media is simply trying to fill the void of truth for the readers of these major newspapers.

heroic mediaHeroic Media is now asking for pro-life Americans all over the country to call their Senators and ask them to give their full throated support for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

“Americans deserve to know the truth about the children sentenced to die for no fault of their own and that we have a chance to spare some of them through this legislation… Our hope is that the American public begins to advance this debate with both the mother and child in mind.”

The least we can do for these innocent babies who are potential victims to the homicidal instincts of their parents is to try and protect them from twenty weeks on. Is the legislation perfect? No. Twenty weeks is an arbitrary line, and the baby is as much a person at 19 weeks, or 5 weeks, as they are at twenty weeks. But passing legislation to ban abortion after twenty weeks will save thousands of lives every year. THOUSANDS. Once we get this passed (and if vetoed – overridden), we can work on legislation that will ban abortion even earlier in the pregnancy.

The Chicago Tribune has announced that they will indeed run the ad, as long Heroic Media changes the image in the advertisement. Because, you know, babies are controversial.

Our newspaper media is filled with backward, immoral cowards, and this is just more proof.
