Trump Admin: If You Enter the USA Illegally ‘We Will Prosecute You’

This is a serious message for serious people folks.

The Trump administration wants potential illegal immigrants to understand something… the Trump era is NOT the Obama era of unchecked illegal immigration.

In fact, the Trump administration has a promise for anyone considering entering our country illegally – YOU WILL BE PROSECUTED. So says, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

Nielsen recently gave an important address to the National Sheriff’s Association which had their annual meeting in New Orleans

“We have to do our job. We will not apologize for doing our job,” Nielsen said. “This administration has a simple message — If you cross the border illegally, we will prosecute you. We will not apologize for the job we do or for the job law enforcement does for doing the job that the American people expect us to do,” she continued. “Illegal actions have and must have consequences. No more free passes, no more get out of jail free cards.”

That is some tough talk from the administration, and it comes at an important time, because illegal immigration is back on the rise after seeing a dramatic decline in President Trump’s first year in office.

Nielsen later took to Twitter to condemn the media message that the government was splitting up families with their policies.

“We do not have a policy of separating families at the border. Period. For those seeking asylum at ports of entry, we have continued the policy from previous administrations and will only separate if the child is in danger, there is no custodial relationship between ‘family’ members, or if the adult has broken a law.”

On Monday Nielsen continued attempting to debunk the media narrative that the government was “taking kids” away from their families. She also chided Congress for passing laws, and then telling the agencies charged with enforcing the laws… NOT to do so.

Then she also explained that Congress could actually fix the problems that most of our politicians are complaining about.

Here’s Nielsen’s speech to the the National Sheriff’s Association:
